Resident Evil Requiem Opens Pre-Orders: Capcom’s Next Horror Epic Looms on the Horizon

The wait is over for fans of survival horror. Capcom has officially opened pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem, the long-anticipated next chapter in its legendary franchise. Launching worldwide on February 27, 2026, Requiem promises to take the series back to its terrifying roots while expanding its gameplay and storytelling like never before.

🧬 A New Generation of Terror

Set several years after the events of Resident Evil Village, Requiem introduces a new protagonist — Grace Ashcroft, a biochemist turned survivor — as she unravels a conspiracy that ties together the remnants of the Umbrella legacy and a mysterious new bio-weapon outbreak. Capcom has described the game as a “psychological and biological horror hybrid,” offering players both intense action and slow-burn dread.

Unlike previous entries, Requiem allows players to switch seamlessly between first-person and third-person perspectives, letting them experience the horror in their preferred way. Powered by the RE Engine, the game features deeply detailed environments, improved enemy AI, and a focus on emotional storytelling.

💿 Editions and Bonuses

Fans can choose between several editions when pre-ordering:

  • Standard Edition – includes the base game and the exclusive “Apocalypse” costume for Grace.
  • Deluxe Edition – adds bonus outfits, weapon skins, visual filters, and collectible in-game files titled “Letters from 1998.”
  • Premium SteelBook Edition – offers all Deluxe content, a collectible case, and a lenticular art card for physical collectors.

Every pre-order, regardless of edition, grants early access to Grace’s “Apocalypse” costume, giving players a small taste of what’s to come when the nightmare begins.

🖥️ Multi-Platform Release

Capcom is launching Resident Evil Requiem across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with availability on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. For the first time in franchise history, the game will also arrive on Nintendo Switch 2, showing Capcom’s renewed commitment to accessibility across platforms.

⚔️ A Fresh Yet Familiar Experience

Early previews hint that Requiem will blend the atmosphere of Resident Evil 2 Remake with the cinematic scope of Village. Classic puzzles, claustrophobic corridors, and relentless enemies return, but with new mechanics — including adaptive decision paths that alter the narrative based on player choices.

Capcom has also teased a new AI companion system, suggesting Grace won’t always face the horrors alone. Still, trust is a fragile thing in a world where bio-terror is reborn.

🧩 The Road to Release

To celebrate the announcement, Capcom released a short retrospective video titled “Road to Requiem,” hosted by voice-actor Maggie Robertson (Lady Dimitrescu). The video revisits key moments from past entries, connecting them to the new story’s themes of loss, mutation, and redemption.

With pre-orders now live and hype steadily rising, Resident Evil Requiem looks poised to become one of 2026’s biggest releases — a chilling reminder that in Capcom’s world, the horror never truly dies.
