Bandai Namco has officially released Tekken 8 Update 2.06 (version 2.06.01) across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, introducing the long-awaited return of Armor King, new cosmetics, and key gameplay refinements. The patch also brings important bug fixes, replay resets, and smaller but meaningful balance updates for many fighters.
Release Timing and Maintenance
The update went live after a scheduled maintenance window on October 13–14, 2025 (CEST 23:30 – 06:00). During this period, all online services were temporarily unavailable. Players who own the Season 2 Character Pass, Ultimate Edition, or Deluxe Edition gained early access to Armor King immediately after maintenance, while general access opens later in the week.
New Content and Additions
Armor King DLC
- Armor King is the highlight of this patch, marking his official debut in Tekken 8.
- Owners of the Season 2 Pass can use him right away; others can purchase him separately when the general release goes live.
- The update also adds a discounted Armor King avatar skin and themed accessories in the Tekken Shop.
Tekken Shop & Fight Pass 7
- The new Tekken Fight Pass – Round 7 introduces a refreshed progression system with missions and unlockable rewards.
- Two new costume packs—Nightmare Jester Pack and Whimsical Jester Pack—expand customization options for fighters.
- Several limited-time sales are live in celebration of the update and DLC launch.
Gameplay and Character Adjustments
Although Update 2.06 is not a major balance overhaul, it delivers a wide range of behavioral and technical fixes that refine the feel of combat.
- Developers adjusted hitboxes, collision detection, and removed unintended move behaviors.
- Audio and visual feedback for certain attacks were improved, alongside better character voice integration.
- Fighters such as Asuka, Anna, Azucena, Clive, Claudio, Devil Jin, Dragunov, Eddy, Fahkumram, Heihachi, Jack-8, Jin, Kazuya, King, Kuma, Panda, Lars, Law, Lee, Leo, Lidia, Lili, Raven, and Steve all received specific tuning.
- Some moves that changed input commands in earlier patches (notably for King and Lee) can now also be executed with their original command inputs, restoring flexibility for long-time players.
These adjustments focus on polishing consistency rather than drastically shifting the game’s balance, setting the stage for future competitive fine-tuning.
Replay and Data Changes
A key technical note: Replay data recorded before Update 2.06 is no longer compatible.
- My Replays / Tips / Downloaded Replays created before this patch cannot be played.
- Online Replays saved before the update are automatically deleted.
- Ghost Battle data remains intact but updates automatically to reflect new move behavior.
This means veteran players will lose older match recordings, though AI and ghost opponents will now mirror the latest gameplay logic.
With Armor King’s arrival, players are eager to explore his matchups and competitive potential. Community discussions suggest that Bandai Namco’s next major patch will face heightened scrutiny, especially as the Tekken World Tour Finals 2026 approach. Developers have indicated that more comprehensive balance updates are planned later in the season, potentially aligning with future DLC releases.
